Investment Manager Search
We have a problem… Our 401(k) Plan needs better funds
Maintaining a strong investment menu within a 401(k) Plan may require a manager search. Selecting the best manager for a 401(k) Plan is a serious and important undertaking. We suggest the following process for conducting manager searches:
1. Identify a “Long List” of Candidates – These are funds with favorable management teams, strong investment performance, sound risk controls, consistent investment process, and competitive fees for plans of your size and complexity.
2. Evaluate “fit” within the 401(k) Plan design – Identify the managers from the “Long List” that provide the best diversification benefit to the 401(k) Plan.
3. Finalist Report – Identify and compare the three most appropriate manager finalists on the basis of management experience, investment process, performance, and fees. Review style, correlation, and risk analysis that demonstrates how the manager fits within the current 401(k) Plan design.
4. Interview Finalists – Manager finalists should present their capabilities to the 401(k) Plan Investment Committee.
5. Select Manager – Be confident in your manager selection having completed a prudent process.
Please note: We are willing to customize the manager search process to align with the specific criteria in your Investment Policy Statement.
